Third Annual Customer Appreciation Event a Success!

Saturday, August 18th marked our Third Annual Customer Appreciation Event. The weather was perfect and many of our customers enjoyed walking around our beautifully upgraded landscaped grounds including new water features.

This is one of our favorite events of the year! We really enjoy showing you, our customer how much we appreciate your business and even more importantly your friendship.

We decided to pop open our barbecues for this event. We cooked up quite a few hamburgers and hotdogs.

Thank you for joining us on this wonderful day. We look forward to seeing you all again very soon!

Please submit suggestions via email. Make sure to write the number of the koi next to the name submission. Make sure to include your contact information (name, phone number, email address)!

Announcement of the five lucky winners: October 20th, 2011

Meet… Koi #1:

Coloring:

Silver, Blue/Black & Orange with Red Splotches

Sex:

Male

This cool, metallic-looking guy admitted has a strange habit: he loves to pretend he is a wild steelhead since he believes he bears a striking resemblance to them!  Also, his favorite television show is “Hillbilly Handfishing” because he likes to imagine that the crazy people catching the catfish are actually being eaten, which makes him chuckle.

Meet… Koi #2:

Coloring:

Yellow

Sex:

Female

This striking gal’s favorite activity is playing peek-a-boo behind the water lettuce that grows in the pond.  She is a ray of sunshine within this group of fish and has a great sense of humor.  She also loves long swims at the bottom of the pond and nibbling gourmet fish food dinners by candlelight.

Meet… Koi #3:

Coloring:

Black with Orange Scale Plating

Sex:

Male

This guy’s markings are quite exceptional: when the sun hits him just right, his scales exude an orange color so that it seems as though his scales are a fish-netting texture.  Not only is he physically unique, but this big lug is quite the character!  He enjoys the occasional pet and stroke by the store workers, and he also loves to show off his impressive ability to breach– just as if he were a mini-whale (Although he certainly is not a mini-koi—he is the longest of the group!).  When asked what actor would play him in a movie of his life, he enthusiastically answered: Free Willy or Brad Pitt, whoever is available.

Meet… Koi #4:

Coloring:

White, Orange, & Black

Sex:

Male

The smallest of the bunch, this young chap is happiest when he gets to tag along with the rest of the gang.  He is a bit self-conscious about his crooked tail, but Koi #2 (our yellow gal) cheers him up and helps him joke about it.  He loves to follow her under the water lettuce where they play peek-a-boo together.  His strangest habit is that he enjoys attempting to perform the side stroke by periodically swimming completely on his side.  He says that is inspired by Nemo from the film Finding Nemo because he doesn’t let his tiny fin stop him from living a life of adventure!

Meet Koi #5:

Coloring:

White, Black & Blue

Sex:

Female

This lady is not only gorgeous, but has an alluring personality.  She enjoys welcoming visitors by gracefully swimming over in order to dazzle them with her stunning markings and her attractively plump belly.  Her dream is to compete in a beauty contest and win her very own tiara.  Her celebrity crush is Prince Harry, and she believes she would make an elegant addition to the royal family.

Customer Appreciation Event

Saturday, August 13th marked our Second Annual Customer Appreciation Event. The weather was perfect and many of our customers enjoyed walking around our beautifully landscaped grounds including many water features.

We love this event and really enjoy showing you, our customer how much we appreciate your business and even more importantly your friendship.

Thank you to Tumbleweed Barbecue who catered this event. We chose a little different food this time and went with their South of the Border theme! The food was amazing, as usual. If you’re looking for a caterer, we highly recommend Tumbleweed Barbecue.

Thank you for joining us on this wonderful day. We look forward to seeing you all again very soon!

First Annual Wine Tasting Event

On Saturday, July 16th we had our First Annual Evening of Wine and Food. We chose for this event to benefit Shepherd’s Door. Shepherd’s Door, a division of the Portland Rescue Mission, is a refuge of safety and healing for women and children.

Many generous local companies including: Bella Cupcakes, Gresham Ford, Gresham Town Fair Chiropractic, Iris Healing Arts, Nancy J. Smith – Nature Photographer, Silk Espresso donated raffle items. The proceeds of the raffle tickets and 20% of all purchases were donated to Shepherd’s Door.

Thanks to our great customers & the generous companies we were able to raise $1000.

Tumbleweed Barbecue catered the event, and the food was plentiful & mouth-watering. Alder Tree Vineyard conducted the wine tasting, which everyone really enjoyed as well!

The event was a real hit and we are already working on our Second Annual Wine Tasting Event for the summer of 2012.

How to Build a Pond and Waterfall/Stream Seminar

Saturday, July 9th was our How to Build a Pond and Waterfall/Stream Seminar. It was a great seminar and all the attendees gave us positive feedback. So, we will be planning another one for next summer.

In this informational seminar, we walked people through the 20 simple steps to take in order to build your own pond. After the seminar many attendees picked up the items needed to go home and get started!

We can’t wait to see the pictures! Thanks to all of you who attended!

Mother’s Day Event 2011

Come join us in celebrating the amazing mothers in our community.  We are hosting an event on Saturday, May 7th from 10am-5pm at our Water Garden Center located at 9965 SE Orient Dr. in Boring.  We will have door prizes, drawing, and food.  Tumbleweed BBQ will be catering our event and offering food from 12pm-3pm.  We will have our hanging baskets brought in from a local nursery and our aquatic plants will be available in our greenhouse.  There are plenty of coupons floating around in the local papers for this event, so look out for them.  Bring your mom and come join us for this special event.

2011 Portland Home & Garden Show

This show was phenomenal.  We really had a good time and enjoyed talking to people about the work we do.  We met many new people and saw some of our valued customers.  Randy and Ted designed and built a beautiful display that included a paver patio, a sitting wall surrounding a Liquid Art Double Bubbler and two columns.  We had a lot of extra room and were able to also bring in some of the fantastic new items we have in our store to show off.  We loved our display so much, that we decided to bring it back to the store and now it is displayed in our showroom.  It looks so great!  As I type this, the guys are building yet another indoor display (insider hint: it will have a waterfall and some koi).  We hope those of you that were able to join us at the Home and Garden Show enjoyed yourselves and will use the coupons we passed out.  For those of you not able to attend, we will be sending the coupons out in the email blast, so make sure to open it.  If you aren’t on our email list just click the link on our website to join or send us an email and we will send one out to you.

So, once again the weather was in our favor for another great family event here at Creative Visions.
All had great fun carving their pumpkins, some sporting their Halloween costumes.
The Scavenger Hunt, Face Painting and other games fulfilled their afternoon.
We hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we did putting on this event for our community.
